Panthers love a good celebration!
We have so many reasons to celebrate! Warm weather, good food, the end of another great year and being a Panther! The Celebration (TC) Day is all about enjoying the end of a (sometimes) harsh Iowa winter and the excitement that comes with a new season. Our campus community can honor the approaching end of the academic year while Panthers everywhere can uphold a UNI tradition.
So wear your TC’s Tee on Tuesday, April 23, to join in The Celebration.
Now in its seventh year, TC Day has grown to a series of events. Check out the 2024 schedule and watch for more details as they become available.

Campus event schedule
8 A.m. | Campanile
Fun Run
Join TC and TK along with members of UNI’s ROTC, Panther Pacers Running Club and others for a 1-mile fun run/walk to kick off TC Day. Participants should meet by the Campanile. All are welcome.
noon - 1 p.m. | maucker union
Spring Kickoff
Join TC and TK for a special free gift as they help President Nook kick off the start to spring. President Nook will also announce proceeds from TC’s Tee, as we prepare for the “Baddest Cats In the Valley” to head into the vault.

Games
Join Rod Library for a series of yard games and entertainment to celebrate the day. (Rain location, Rod Library)

Celebratory Cuisine
UNI Dining will offer a special menu in Piazza and Rialto. Enjoy street tacos, brisket mac & cheese, and much more! Cost for those without a meal plan is $11.75. Debit/credit cards and Dining Dollars are accepted.

Traditions Keeper Ceremony
Graduating seniors who have completed the Traditions Challenge can join CATS to receive their pin or medallion to wear during Commencement.

CAB BBQ
Come join the Campus Activities Board as we celebrate the end of the school year with some finger-licking food and fun! Everyone is welcome to enjoy lawn games, live music and giveaways. The first 200 who register ahead of time will also have the opportunity to enjoy some delicious food.

Hurling Hatchet will be set up on Lawther field for some mobile axe throwing.

Wear your shirt and celebrate the Baddest Cats of the Valley one last time as we get ready to retire this year’s theme and design.
Special Food & Drink
Flares will be serving fish tacos and Chats will offer a special drink for the day: TC Monster Confetti.
History
It began in 2018 when President Mark Nook issued a proclamation that a particularly cold winter had ended and the campus community was ready to enjoy a taste of the warmer weather. He invited everyone to join him for some tropical treats, and a tradition was born.
Originally called Tropical Celebration Day, The Celebration, or TC Day, has evolved into an event not only to relish the warming temperatures and the approaching culmination of another successful academic year, but also a time to recognize all of the wonderful things about the University of Northern Iowa and the people who call it home.
As the Panther community enjoys the seventh year of this tradition, TC Day has expanded from some delicious treats into a day of celebration across the campus. It will continue to grow just like our community.
